Man changing a flat tire

Flat Tires are Deflating

Stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire, you open your trunk and begin to look for the spare but wait a minute…it’s not there! Unfortunately, this is a common reality in the 2020s for all new vehicles as many new vehicles don’t come with a spare tire in the trunk anymore.

You may be remembering times of the past in which a vehicle had a spare tire mounted in the trunk or underneath the vehicle and a small little jack to go with it. However those days — just like a vehicle’s spare tire — are gone.

Nowadays modern vehicles tend to come with no spare and just a small can of flat tire repair gel. While it gets the job done, this isn’t the most desirable way to handle an unexpected flat tire.

Nobody wants to spend time on the side of the road,  at the mercy of the elements, all because of a flat tire. That’s why you need to carry a spare tire in your vehicle. Carrying a spare tire in your vehicle not only allows you to get back on the road quicker, but it provides peace of mind. There are a few different types of spare tires available on the market to suit every need, here’s a list of available types of spare tires.

Full-Size Spare

Sharing the same dimensions as the vehicle’s standard tire, a full-size spare is one of the most effective options for a spare tire there is. Unlike a temporary spare or “doughnut”, a full-size spare allows you to travel at regular speeds as if you never had a flat in the first place.

Minimal downtime is one of the biggest upsides to a full-size spare, making it a great option for those who make a living on the road. Although the full-size spare offers plenty of benefits, there are some downsides as well.

A full-size spare is heavy, which means it takes up more space — and consumes more fuel. This shouldn’t stop you from considering a full-size spare, but it should be something you take into consideration.

If a full-size spare tire is the right option for you, call our parts professionals at Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM today to order your full-size spare.

Temporary Full-Size Spare

While a true full-size spare is the most effective option, the drawback of it taking up so much space in the vehicle is something to consider. With that being said, if you don’t have the space for a full-size spare, a temporary full-size spare is a great alternative.

A temporary full-size spare tire is just like your regular, full-size tire, but with smaller tread depth and less weight. This design saves space while remaining an effective spare tire option.

A temporary full-size spare will allow you to safely drive to Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Service Center so you can get a new tire mounted and balanced on the car. A temporary full-size spare is a great option for those that carry a lot of cargo, or even those driving compact cars which don’t have a lot of room for a full-size spare.

Compact Temporary Spare

A compact temporary spare may not be the most effective option in terms of being able to drive on it for miles or at regular speeds. However, that doesn’t mean it’s completely ineffective or useless. With a compact temporary spare, you can travel a short distance at lower speeds in order to reach safety.

The compact temporary spare is a bit smaller and narrower than a full-size spare but it’s still just as useful when you have an unexpected flat tire. These compact temporary spares or “doughnuts” tend to be the traditional spare tire most think of when they think of flat tire repair.

If you want a spare that will function long enough to help you arrive at Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Service Center for a repair — opt for the compact temporary spare.

Folding Temporary Spare:

A folding temporary spare is a small spare tire, similar to the “doughnut” spare but it is even more compact. It can be deflated and folded for easy storage, making it a great option for those with limited cargo space.

These spares do require inflation before usage, which is an important thing to keep in mind when selecting the right spare tire to keep on hand. While you may not be able to travel at regular speeds with this tire, you will be able to safely arrive at Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Service Center.

Run-Flat Tires

The most cutting-edge technology when it comes to spare tires is the Run-Flat spare tire. Run-Flat tires allow you to keep driving at regular speeds for up to 50 miles from the initial puncture.

This incredible technology allows a driver to safely and effectively drive in almost any type of condition to reach their mechanic’s shop in the event of an unexpected flat tire. Run-Flats are one of the most expensive spare tire options, but also one of the most effective outside of carrying a full-size spare.

Loving the sound of a Run-Flat tire? Then come on down to Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM and have one of our parts professionals place your order today. Here at Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, we don’t just offer the best prices on our cars, we offer it on our parts as well.

Let’s Get Rolling

While flat tires are almost always unexpected and incredibly inconvenient, they are an inevitable part of owning a vehicle. Making sure you select the right kind of spare tire that fits all of your needs is a great way to help minimize the interference of an unexpected flat tire.

Utilizing a spare tire properly can save you time, money and aggravation, that’s why it’s important to have one handy. The function of most spare tires is to help you get off the road and arrive safely at a service center like the one here at Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM.

Whether you want a set of Run-Flat tires or a temporary spare, the parts professionals here at Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM can help. • The Jeep® logo on the club’s new kit showcases the brand’s path towards zero-emissions freedom.
  • During this ten-year sponsorship, the bianconeri have won 29 trophies and the Jeep brand has experienced exponential growth on the Italian market thanks to the launch of successful new products and technologies on its way towards zero-emission freedom.
  • In Europe, Jeep has gone from over 29,600 registrations in 2012 to over 131,300 in 2021. Plus, according to data from last June, the 4xe plug-in hybrid lineup accounts for 42% of total Jeep sales.
  • The celebrations of the first ten years of this collaboration can also be seen on Jeep and Juventus’ official social media channels (as can be seen at this link), where fans can share emotions, passion, and a sense of belonging to the two legends.

Turin, July 7, 2022 – The 2022-2023 soccer pre-season began on July 1st and marked ten years of partnership between Jeep® and Juventus. With the Jeep logo first adorning the bianconeri kit during the 2012-2013 season, this sponsorship was founded and thrives on shared values like authenticity and passion. Plus, over the past ten years, the club has lifted lots of trophies and written another successful chapter in the history of Italian soccer. After all, when we speak about Jeep and Juventus, we can’t help but think about the glorious pasts which set them apart and fuel their global appeal.

In ten years, 29 trophies, nine SUVs and innovative technologies

If we look at the numbers up close, we can see that, over the last ten years, the men’s squad has won 8 Serie A titles, 5 Coppa Italia and 5 Supercoppa Italia; and, only five years since its founding, the women’s team has won 5 titles, 2 Coppa Italia and 3 Supercoppa. Meanwhile, the Under-23s has won 1 Lega Pro Coppa Italia.

During the same timeframe, the Jeep brand has launched nine new models onto the market, starting in 2011 with the Compass. In 2014, the Melfi Italian factory became the home of the Renegade—the first Small SUV Jeep and the brand’s first vehicle designed in the USA, built in Italy, and sold in more than 100 countries worldwide. Furthermore, 2014 also saw the introduction of the Cherokee. In 2017, the launch of the Compass redefined standards in the compact SUV category. Then, in 2018, the Jeep Wrangler amazed the public with its totally new look, while remaining loyal to itself and its legendary off-road capability and advanced technological solutions. In 2020, Jeep took its first steps in its electrification process thanks to the 4xe Plug-In Hybrid technology which was introduced on the Renegade and Compass to provide a more enjoyable, efficient, sustainable and safer 4×4. Later, in 2021, Jeep released three new vehicles: the New Compass, the iconic New Wrangler in a 4xe version, and the unstoppable Gladiator pick-up. The Compass was introduced with a striking and sophisticated look and included important new features which took it to another level in terms of design, safety, technology, and functionality; meanwhile 4xe technology made its debut on the Wrangler to provide a completely silent and zero-emissions off-road experience. Plus, alongside 4xe technology, the brand is proceeding quickly with its electrification process. In 2022, e-hybrid technology debuted on the Renegade and Compass, and next year will see the arrival of the 100% electric compact B-UV SUV and the Grand Cherokee 4xe.

Success on every terrain: the 4xe SUVs are the leaders in Italy in the LEV segment

Over these ten years, Juventus has confidently stayed the course on its path towards victory; meanwhile, Jeep has continued to open new roads, enhancing the proverbial off-road capability of its SUVs and reaching unforgettable success stories. Today, Jeep’s path is leading it towards electrification in its pursuit of “zero-emission freedom”.

The most glaring example of this can be seen in its sustainable 4xe plug-in technology which is capable of guaranteeing extraordinary on-road and off-road performance. “4xe” has already become a brand within the Jeep brand and synonymous with providing the most comfort and security in any environmental condition, zero emissions, and an improved version of Jeep’s world-famous off-road capability. It’s no coincidence that, in expectation of the Grand Cherokee fleet, the Renegade, Compass and Wrangler 4xe have made the Jeep brand the undisputed leader in Italy in the LEV segment (full-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles) in the first half of 2022, following its leadership throughout the whole of 2021. More specifically, the Compass is the highest-selling LEV model on any market and segment; the Renegade 4xe is number one among B-SUVs and all BEV and PHEV models and second only to the Compass in overall sales. The Wrangler 4xe has ranked third since the beginning of the year. If we look at the European market, according to last June’s data, the 4xe models account for 42% of Jeep’s total sales. Moreover, in the European LEV segment, the brand has reached a market share of 2.1%, which is more than double the total market share (0.9% in the full year according to data from June 2022), while the percentage stands at 18% in Italy.

The path towards electrification

Furthermore, alongside the success of the 4xe models, the brand’s strategy towards the development of more sustainable mobility continued with the launch of the new e-Hybrid version of the Jeep Compass and Renegade. With the introduction of the e-Hybrid models, Jeep is offering customers a further chance to get to know its electrified lineup. Plus, as stated by CEO Carlos Tavares during the presentation of Stellantis’ strategic plan “Dare Forward 2030”, Jeep will launch a new 100% electric B-UV compact SUV at the beginning of next year.

The iconic black lettering of Jeep’s logo on Juventus 2022-2023 kit features lightning bolts as a way to highlight the brand’s path towards electrification.

And, speaking of communications, the celebrations of the first ten years of collaboration can also be seen on Jeep and Juventus’ official social media channels (as can be seen at this link), where fans can share emotions, passion, and a sense of belonging to the two legends.

Driving an EV on a sunny summer day

Planning a fun road trip in your EV this summer? Then you’re going to want to read this! As an electric vehicle owner, you’re most likely calculating your battery’s range and planning the trip accordingly, so we put together some tips to help you out.

While battery technology in EVs has made substantial progress in recent years, they aren’t without their shortcomings. One of the most glaring weaknesses is the reduced driving range electric vehicle owners experience in extreme temperatures. Although the hot summer weather may work to reduce your battery’s range, we’ve put together a list of tips that can help you get the most out of your battery.

Before you head out on your summer journey, give this list of tips for summer EV driving a quick read — it’s sure to help!

Driving Range

While driving an electric vehicle in the summer, one of the most important things to remember is the difference in driving range. According to AAA, the driving range of an EV battery can be reduced by up to 17% in temperatures above 95º, which is a significant reduction in range. Due to this reduction in range, you should be paying close attention to your EV’s charge level during the summers to avoid any problems.

If you’re looking for a way to keep your range where it needs to be during the summer, a good way to do so is to use less air conditioning. Opting to drive with the windows down can reduce the load on your EV’s batteries which will help you get the range you’re accustomed to. It may seem crazy to opt out of using A/C in the summer, but when you’re spending less time at the charging station it all begins to make sense.

Find Some Shade

Keeping the interior of your car is always important in the summers, but when you own an EV its even more important. When you keep your EV cool, the batteries are able to function at peak capacity, providing the best range your car has to offer.

However, if you’re parked in the middle of an open field on a sweltering hot day, chances are you’re directly reducing the amount of range your car’s batteries have. This is why we recommend always parking in shaded areas when possible. When you can’t park in a shaded area, the best thing you could do is use a windshield shade to keep the interior of your EV nice and cool.

Whichever way you decide to keep your car cool, doing so is the best way to get the full range from your EV battery.

Try Not to Fast Charge

One of the most convenient ways to charge your electric vehicle is via rapid charging, however, this is also a great way to reduce the lifespan of its batteries. That is why we recommend skipping the fast charging station on hot summer days. While your EV is made and rated to handle fast charging, doing so as your sole means of charging is not the best way to elongate the life of your EV batteries.

When you do opt to fast charge, try to do it sparingly, and preferably in a climate-controlled space. If you own a house with a garage, charging your EV in that enclosed space is a great way to get a full charge in a reasonable amount of time. Since your battery won’t have to fight against the elements, charging your battery in a garage or climate-controlled space reduced charging time rapidly.

Precondition Your Cabin

As we mentioned before, keeping your EV cool is one of the best ways to ensure you get the most range out of its battery. A great way to do it is by preconditioning your interior, which on most EVs is done by remote starting your vehicle. With preconditioning, you can run the air conditioning before you ever set foot in the vehicle, which not only makes it comfortable for you but also increases battery range.

Most electric vehicles these days have a preconditioning or remote start feature, which makes life far easier during the summer. If you don’t have a preconditioning or remote start mode on your EV, you may be able to have an aftermarket remote starter installed which can function similarly to a built-in preconditioning mode.

Travel Light

A piece of advice that can be used year-round, traveling light is a fantastic way to get the most out of your EV battery. The more weight you have in your car, the harder its batteries have to work to get you going — effectively reducing the overall range. If you’re planning to hit the roads for a long trip this summer, make sure you’re traveling light in order to get the most out of your battery’s range.

In the event that you can’t travel with minimal gear, we recommend having a pre-planned charging strategy so you’re never stranded.

Washing your car at home

Whether you’re a car enthusiast or simply a daily driver, keeping your car clean is always a must. While it may seem like a daunting task to keep your car clean, it truly isn’t, especially with our Northpointe CDJR helpful car cleaning tips.

As with any chore, the more you keep up with cleaning your car, the easier it is to maintain. That is why we recommend regularly cleaning out your car, vacuuming it and keeping it free of trash and debris.

When it comes to keeping the exterior of your car looking great, regular washes and waxes will go a long way. Maintaining your car’s paint is a great way to ensure your vehicle won’t have rust or peeling problems. The best part is that it keeps your car looking great too.

With this list of helpful tips, you’ll have all the tools and knowledge you need to keep your car looking just as great as it did the day you bought it.

Clear it Out

The first step to cleaning your car like the pros is pretty simple — clear it out! Trash, debris, last week’s hamburger wrapper, you’ll want to get rid of it all. Clearing out the clutter from the interior of your car instantly makes it look better and a lot less “lived in”. Plus, if you had enough stuff in there, you could consider it as fuel savings to clean it all out.

Not only is interior clutter unsightly, but it can also be dangerous. If you’re ever in an accident, every item you have on the interior will be tossed around becoming a hazard to you. Plus, who wants to be coated in a two-day-old soda after getting in an accident?

Cleaning out the interior of your car is the easiest step, all you need are some trash bags and you’ll be clutter-free in no time. Once you’ve cleaned out the interior of your car, you can move on to our next step detailed below.

Scrub it Out

Just like the carpet and flooring in our homes, the floor mats in our cars can get pretty dirty. That’s why it’s important for you to pull them out of the car and give them a good scrubbing. Getting your floor mats nice and clean doesn’t just look good, it also will help cut down on airborne bacteria and irritants too.

Before you get to scrubbing, you may also want to give your floor mats thorough vacuuming. This will get the dirt and debris that has found its way into your car and been compacted down. Once you’re done vacuuming you can get to scrubbing.

You’ll want a good brush with semi-firm bristles to attack carpet floor mats, and a good cleaning agent as well. If you have rubber or “all-weather” floor mats, you can skip the vacuum step and just give them a good spray down with your chosen cleaning agent.

Vacuum it Out

If you have been following our steps thus far, you should have your vacuum out still, so why not tackle the rest of the interior with it? Thoroughly vacuum all carpeted surfaces in your car, including the passenger and rear-seat floorboards, especially if they see high traffic.

While you have the vacuum out, it’s probably a good idea to run it over any non-carpeted surfaces that accumulate dust and debris like the dashboard. You can even hit the vents as dust accumulates there and can cause allergies or irritation.

A solid vacuum job should leave your car’s interior looking fresh and smelling even better — so why not take the time and do your car a favor?

Wipe it Out

A final step to cleaning your car like a pro is wiping it out. Pick up some interior cleaning and detailing wipes and get to work! We recommend starting from the driver’s seat, hitting all the instrumentation and surfaces you touch most.

From there, we say no amount of attention to detail is too much. Dig into those cracks and crevices, don’t be afraid to really get in there. You can use things like Q-Tips to get into tight spaces like between the air vents or radio controls. Work your way throughout the front first, then make a move to the back of the car — don’t forget the cupholders!

Get to Cleaning

Now that you have read our list of tips to keep your car clean like the pros, it’s time to grab your cleaning supplies and get to work. Whether you’re going for full interior and exterior detail or keeping it simple with a wash and wax, this list of tips is sure to get you started on the right path.

If you’re not feeling the whole DIY car detailing process, that’s okay too, we can always help you out at our reconditioning department. All you have to do is book an appointment online or by calling 814-918-3348 — stopping by works too.

June 1, 2022, Auburn Hills, Mich. – The Jeep® brand and Universal Pictures are teaming up once again, this time to launch Universal and Amblin Entertainment’s new “Jurassic World Dominion,” the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era, which has thrilled fans around the globe for almost three decades and has earned more than $5 billion worldwide. “Jurassic World Dominion” arrives in theaters everywhere June 10.

The Jeep brand’s global campaign will run in markets around the world, including in North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific.

The marketing campaign in the U.S. will include a 30-second broadcast spot, content across Jeep brand’s social media channels, including an extended one-minute version of the TV spot and behind-the-scenes footage showing the making of the commercial, plus experiential events where members of the Jeep Wave community will be able to register to see the new film in select cities across the U.S.

“Almost 30 years ago, moviegoers saw Dr. Ian Malcom escape danger from dinosaurs in the original ‘Jurassic Park’ film while riding in the back seat of a 1992 Jeep Wrangler,” said Olivier Francois, global chief marketing officer, Stellantis. “We paid homage to that iconic scene in the Jeep brand’s 2018 Big Game commercial, which then featured the new Jeep Wrangler, as the next extension of our relationship with Universal Pictures. Here we are now in 2022, and we continue to see the evolution of the Jeep brand around the world with electric plug-ins, including the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe, which are quite literally charged for any adventure, this time with a four-legged passenger of a different kind riding along in the front seat.”

“The Jeep brand has substantially expanded in the three decades since the first appearance of the Wrangler in the original ‘Jurassic Park’ film,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO. “We have entered into new SUV segments, we have increased our global production footprint and, with the rollout of our 4xe electrified portfolio that includes the Wrangler 4xe, the Jeep brand is developing the most capable and sustainable 4×4 vehicles in the world, satisfying the needs of our expanding global Jeep community.”

“The ‘Jurassic’ film series is known for its epic scope and thrilling action and ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ is taking audiences on an adventure where no ‘Jurassic’ film has gone before,” said David K. O’Connor, president, franchise management, brand management and global partnerships for Universal Pictures. “The Jeep brand has been driving our audiences on unimaginable adventures, on-screen and off, since the first film in 1993 and we’re thrilled to share the road with them, this time and every time.”

The one-minute Jeep brand commercial shows a Jeep Wrangler 4xe owner finding a newly hatched Carnotaurus in his own yard and deciding to faithfully take care of it. He takes the baby dinosaur on off-road adventures (engaging electric mode when quiet is called for!), while inducing both wide-eyed wonder from children and panic on neighborhood streets when he takes the dinosaur for daily walks along the avenue, before finding its mother during a camping adventure … with unexpected results. Turns out it was just his imagination running wild. Or was it?

In addition to the television and social media content, the Jeep brand is offering its Jeep Wave members the opportunity to see the film at drive-in events in cities around the U.S. on June 8, including Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and on June 9 in Warwick, New Jersey. Jeep Wave is a premium owner-loyalty program filled with exciting benefits and perks of being a Jeep SUV owner.

The Jeep brand and the Jurassic franchise have an enduring shared history. In 2018, prior to the release of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” the Jeep brand launched a 60-second spot during the Big Game that paid homage to the iconic scene in “Jurassic Park” featuring the Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep Wrangler, the Jeep Gladiator and a vintage Grand Wagoneer can be seen in the “Jurassic World Dominion” film.

The video was directed by Mimi Cave with the production company Reverie Content.

The Jeep brand campaign was created in partnership with Chicago-based advertising agency Highdive.

“Jurassic World Dominion”
This summer, experience the epic conclusion to the “Jurassic” era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill in “Jurassic World Dominion,” a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that spans the globe.

From “Jurassic World” architect and director Colin Trevorrow, “Dominion” takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live — and hunt — alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

“Jurassic World Dominion,” from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, propels the more than $5 billion franchise into daring, uncharted territory, featuring never-seen dinosaurs, breakneck action and astonishing new visual effects.

The film features new cast members DeWanda Wise (“She’s Gotta Have It”), Emmy nominee Mamoudou Athie (“Archive 81”), Dichen Lachman (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Scott Haze (“Minari”) and Campbell Scott (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”). The film’s returning cast includes BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, Justice Smith as Franklin Webb, Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez and Omar Sy as Barry Sembenè.

“Jurassic World Dominion” is directed by Colin Trevorrow, who steered 2015’s “Jurassic World” to a record-shattering $1.7 billion global box office. The screenplay is by Emily Carmichael (“Battle at Big Rock”) and Colin Trevorrow from a story by Derek Connolly (“Jurassic World”) and Trevorrow, based on characters created by Michael Crichton. “Jurassic World Dominion” is produced by acclaimed franchise producers Frank Marshall p.g.a. and Patrick Crowley p.g.a. and is executive produced by legendary, Oscar-winning franchise creator Steven Spielberg, Alexandra Derbyshire and Colin Trevorrow.

A man charging his electric vehicle at a public charging station

As fuel prices soar and climate change becomes a larger public concern, the need for electric vehicles becomes clearer and clearer. Despite the growing need for electric vehicles, there is no shortage of negative rumors surrounding the vehicles. You’ll hear about “range anxiety” or how rare materials are used to build batteries for EVs. The thing is, you could say many of the same things about gas-powered vehicles — without all the benefits of an EV.

Whether you’re considering an electric vehicle or flat out refuse to adapt, this blog will show you just how practical electric vehicles are. By the time you finish this blog, you’ll be convinced that electric vehicles are the future of automobiles — and that future is now. Once you’re done reading, make sure to pay a visit to Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM located in Seneca to test drive an electric vehicle today.

They Require Less Maintenance

One of the biggest reasons electric vehicles are more practical than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles is that they require less maintenance. With a gas-powered vehicle, you have to perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes and tune-ups — all of which are costly. Unlike gas-powered cars, electric vehicles require little to no routine maintenance and will only see a mechanic when it needs major repairs or servicing.

While electric vehicles will still need new tires, brakes and wiper blades throughout the year, you will still be performing less routine maintenance on them compared to a gas-powered vehicle. This means you’ll be able to save tons of money on oil changes, tune-ups, fluid changes and other routine maintenance that is associated with a gas-powered vehicle. With the money you save on both fuel and maintenance costs, owning an electric vehicle practically pays for itself!

Save on Fuel Costs

An obvious benefit to electric cars is the amount of money you will save by not purchasing fuel. If you own a fully-electric vehicle you won’t be hitting the local gas station to fuel up once a week. Instead, you’ll be able to “fuel” up at home as you can have a level 2 or 3 charger installed inside of your garage with relative ease. This means not only will you save money on fuel, but you’ll also save yourself some time as you won’t have to travel to the gas station.

Now, if you live in an apartment complex, charging your EV might be a bit more complicated if your complex doesn’t have on-site charging stations. In this case, you’ll have to figure out where the nearest charging station is and spend a bit of time charging up there. While the time spent charging may be a drawback, if you can combine it with other activities it is quite practical.

Whether you have the ability to charge at home will decide just how practical owning an EV is for you. However, as time goes on and EVs grow in popularity, more public charging options will become available and make owning an EV more practical than ever before. Even if you don’t have the ability to charge an EV at home, the amount of money you’ll save on fuel and maintenance is enough reason to make the switch.

Self-Driving Mode

A feature straight out of a sci-fi movie, self-driving technology is yet another reason owning an electric vehicle is more practical than you may think. We all know that driving is dangerous and combining human error with it only heightens the amount of risk — yet we all get behind the wheel each morning without a second thought.

With self-driving electric vehicles, that inherent risk of human error is eliminated, making the roads a safer place for everyone. Self-driving car technology allows you to commute completely hands-free as artificial intelligence makes driving decisions for you. You will have to remain alert at all times while using the self-driving mode just in case you need to take control of the vehicle at any time.

Not only do self-driving cars keep people and the roads safer, but they also make your daily commute easier than ever before.

This list has a little something for everyone, from the new Jeep owner to a lifelong enthusiast. So kick back, relax and give this list a quick read — we know you’ll love it! It Was Designed in Two Days

As World War II raged on, the United States began planning to join the fight. As a part of these plans, the U.S. Army realized its fleet of Ford Model T’s wouldn’t be able to survive the war nor be efficient. That is when the Army began to search for a small, lightweight, four-wheel-drive vehicle that could handle anything the war threw at it.

Just a few short days after beginning the search, the Bantam truck company won the bid and began designing the future Jeep on July 17th, 1940. Two days after Bantam began designing the vehicle, Karl Probst turned in a design that would become the iconic Jeep. By the 22nd of the month, Bantam had sent the design and proposal to the U.S. Government and secured the contract to begin building Jeeps for the U.S. Army.

Such an incredible turnaround time on a car design is absolutely unheard of these days, which simply adds to the aura of the legendary Jeep brand.

Ford Designed the Iconic Grille

Although Bantam had won the bid to design the Jeep, the company was incapable of mass-producing the quantity needed by the Army. That is why both Ford and Willys were brought into the fold in order to help out Bantam with production. During this mutual partnership, Ford helped design the iconic flat front grill that Jeep owners have come to know and love.

Surprisingly this design choice wasn’t made for aesthetics, but for practicality and ease of production. The “Pygmy” was the prototype design for the Jeep and it was originally designed with a flat 13-slot front grille, however, that design was changed quickly, with nine slots being donned on the front. By 1945, the Pygmy was finished and featured the now-iconic seven-slot front grille.

A Jeep Earned a Purple Heart

Yes, you read that right. The Jeep is the ONLY vehicle in American history to have been awarded a Purple Heart — and it’s earned two of them! A Marine Corps Jeep was awarded the prestigious military award after taking heavy fire in Guadalcanal during World War II. It was the first vehicle to have landed on the beach during an invasion and it paid the price, ending its days of service with two bullet holes in the windshield.

The “CJ” Model Name Stands for “Civilian Jeep”

With Jeep being born out of military necessity, it is no wonder some of the military ways have become engrained in the Jeep DNA ever since. One example of this is the first publicly available Jeep, the CJ-2A which stood for Civilian Jeep. The CJ-2A came out after the end of World War II and had some additional features the military edition was lacking such as a tailgate, external fuel cap and a spare tire.

While the Jeep name has not been a part of the war effort in many decades, the high standards Jeep was born out of are still adhered to today. To this day, each and every Jeep is built with quality parts and is designed to deliver a fun driving experience with unmatched capability and reliability.

Willy’s isn’t Pronounced That Way

One of the original companies to have participated in the design and production of the Jeep, Willy’s is beloved amongst the Jeep community. However, there is a bit of lighthearted debate surrounding the company and its name.  While you may have heard it pronounced as “Will-ees”, according to the company’s founder John North Willys, it is actually pronounced like “Will-is”.

Nowadays, as most things go when languages evolved, the latter pronunciation has all but been forgotten. If you find yourself around heavy Jeep enthusiasts, you may hear it pronounced “properly” and if you don’t, it may make for a fun and friendly debate. Whichever way you choose to pronounce “Willys” one thing is for certain, the company is responsible for one of the most beloved and iconic vehicle designs in the world.

An absolute must-see when visiting the Seneca area, The Venango Museum of Art, Science & Industry houses a collection of exhibits and artifacts relevant to the interests of Venango County residents and visitors. The Museum resides in an old Beaux-Arts-styled building that was once a Post Office that was built in 1906, giving it an old-school charm and uniqueness.

Inside, visitors will find a variety of exhibits and artifacts, including their main exhibit “Oil: Black Gold or Black Magic?”. With oil being such a pivotal part of Venango Counties’ history, it is no surprise that the local museum has an entire exhibit dedicated to oil. The latest addition to the museum is a Penzoil Oil Company exhibit that details the history of Penzoil in Venango County.

The Venango Museum of Art, Science & Industry is open to all ages, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. DeBence Antique Music World Museum

A perfect destination for music lovers, the DeBence Antique Music World Museum is one of the more unique attractions in the Seneca area. Started in 1940 by Jake & Elizabeth DeBence, the Museum houses over 200 antique mechanical musical instruments. The collection of musical instruments was originally a personal collection started by Mr. DeBence, but in 1965 he decided the world needed to see all he had.

Retiring in 1965, Mr. DeBence then moved his collection of mechanical musical devices to a barn in Franklin, shortly after he opened it to the public — the rest they say, is history. This privately operated museum quickly became a staple of the city of Franklin, as the town’s citizens realized just how unique this collection was.

Following Mr. DeBence’s death in 1992, the collection was put up for sale by his wife, Elizabeth. However, after many offers for millions of dollars, Elizabeth decided that Mr. DeBence would have wanted the collection to stay intact and rejected all offers. Shortly after this decision, Elizabeth helped local residents and the Chamber of Commerce form a non-profit organization to care for the museum after she passed away.

The collection is incredibly unique, with many of the items being one-offs or the final remaining item of its kind. With such a collection, it’s no wonder the DeBence Antique Music World Museum is one of Seneca’s biggest attractions.

This is one stop you won’t want to miss when visiting Seneca! For more information on the DeBence Museum, its collection or operating hours, visit their website or call 814-432-8350.

Drake Well Museum and Park

The site that sparked America’s first oil boom, the Drake Well in Cherrytree Township is a must-see historical landmark if you’re visiting Seneca. It was first drilled by Edwin Drake in 1859, making it the first commercial oil well in the entire United States. Many other wells throughout the world tried to claim to be the first — like the one in Oil Springs, Ontario — however, none of them were purpose-built to drill for oil.

While this was an important feat, historians say that the true achievement of the Drake Well was how it kickstarted the first set of investments into the oil refining and drilling industry. The Drake Well was capable of producing between 12 to 20 barrels of oil per day, but unfortunately, that meant it was never profitable after the oil boom. In 1861, just two short years after it was drilled, the Drake Well stopped production and was eventually sold by the Seneca Oil Company in 1864.

Although the Drake Well’s production run met an early demise, it still inspired an entire industry revolving around oil that is still in operation today. Without Edwin Drake and his perseverance to continue drilling, the oil industry very well may have never taken off.

You can visit the Drake Well Museum at 202 Museum Lane, Titusville, PA 16354. The museum sits on 22 acres of land surrounding the original well and is open to the public throughout the year. For more information on tours, visiting hours and anything else Drake Well — visit the museum website!

Pithole Ghost Town

If you tend to like more obscure attractions, the Pithole Ghost Town is the attraction for you! Originally an oil boomtown founded in 1865, Pithole had an incredibly rapid rise in popularity and an even faster decline. Pithole existed for only two short years, officially being unincorporated in 1877 due to the decline of economic growth and oil production.

As the economy in Pithole began to decline, investors and speculators began to abandon Pithole. In February of 1877, a fire raged down Holmden Street in Pithole, completely destroying the street as well as parts of Brown and Second Streets. With the town reduced to ashes, many of its inhabitants decided to move on.

In 1957, what remained of Pithole was purchased by James B. Stevenson, the publisher of the local Titusville Herald. Stevenson decided to clean up the ghost town, having it cleared of all overgrowth and debris, eventually donating the land in 1971 to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. You can tour Pithole, but many of the buildings have been reduced to foundations marking their existence.

Craving an adventure through a historical ghost town? Then you need to visit Pithole Ghost Town, which is located only six miles from the Drake Well Museum we mentioned earlier. Looking for more information on Pithole? You can find out more by visiting the Pithole Visitor Center on 14118 Pithole Road in Pleasantville.
