When Horace Elgin Dodge and John Francis Dodge founded the Dodge Brothers Company in 1900, the idea of fast cars was barely on the brothers’ radar. In 1896, Horace was busy applying for patents for a dirt-resistant bicycle bearing. A year later, in 1897, production was underway for the Evans & Dodge Bicycle Company

But by the turn of the century, the mechanically-minded brothers would begin their pivot to automobiles. The rest, as they say, is history. In 1903 the brothers entered into a partnership with newcomer Ford Motor Company and set to work manufacturing Ford’s engines and transmissions. In 1914 they branched out on their own and introduced the very first Dodge vehicle. 249 Dodges were built in 1914, a number that would soon look quaint; by 1915, Dodge ranked third among America’s best-selling automakers. From their humble origins in the small town of Niles, Michigan, the Dodge brothers had ditched bicycles and established one of the most successful auto manufacturing companies in the country.

Both brothers passed away in 1920, but the legend of Dodge would forge ahead. In 1928, the brothers’ family sold the company to Chrysler, where Dodge continues to function as Chrysler’s mid-priced brand today. But despite its continued success, there’s still much about the Dodge brand’s history you may not have known. Here are five little-known Dodge facts, beginning in the early decades of the twenty-first century:

Mechanizing the War Effort

In 1916, Lt. George Patton Jr. Led the first mechanized cavalry charge in U.S. Army history. Patton himself drove a Dodge WC57 Command Car, and with the aid of just two additional Dodge vehicles and 15 soldiers, he led the charge against the Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa and eventually vanquished his lieutenants. Over the decades that followed, mechanized cavalry charges would gradually become modern warfare’s norm. (America’s final horse-mounted cavalry charge would take place in the Philippines in early 1942.)

Engineered to Excel

The Dodge brand’s reputation has always hinged on its vehicles’ high performance standard. Accordingly, Dodge has constantly been at the forefront of developing and testing powerful new engines. The first eight-cylinder engine by Dodge was produced in 1930, the same year that Dodge began offering its first factory car radios. Though that engine was discontinued in 1934 during the throes of the Great Depression, it was later reinstated in 1952. Then, in 2014, the Dodge Ram 1500 became the first compact pickup to offer a Diesel engine.

Ladies’ Choice

In 1955 and 1956, Dodge produced the Dodge La Femme, a full-sized automobile designed specifically for women. The La Femme was conceived by Chrysler’s marketing department, who observed that by the 1950’s, women were taking a more active interest in automobiles and may represent an untapped market. Their solution was the gaudy novelty vehicle, the Dodge La Femme.

The interior of the La Femme screamed the 1950s’ vision of femininity. 1955 La Femmes featured pink rosebud upholstery on a pale silver-pink background. Each vehicle came with a keystone-shaped, pink calfskin purse outfitted with accessories, including a face-powder compact, cigarette case, lipstick case, and change purse. Furthermore, a compartment on the back of the driver’s seat contained a raincoat, rain bonnet, and umbrella made with the same rosebud fabric. If it all seems a bit much, consumers in the 50’s agreed; the La Femme was not a big seller, and Dodge discontinued the line after just two years, in 1957.

The Enigmatic “Fratzog” Emblem

From 1962-1976, Dodge’s logo was comprised of three interlocking triangles, a geometrical arrangement dubbed a “Fratzog.” It’s a unique name, one you’d think has a compelling origin story. It does not. Needing a placeholder title in the early 1960’s, one of Dodge’s designers came up with the meaningless moniker “Fratzog” and… it was simply never topped. No one on Dodge’s design team could manifest a better name than the Fratzog, and the emblem would continue to be used in parts such as steering wheel center hubs until the late 1970’s.

Highs and Lows in the Racing World

Dodge has been part of both racing glory and infamy. Lee Petty was the driver who put Dodge on the racing map in 1953, earning Dodge’s first NASCAR victory during a race in Palm Springs, Florida.

But in 1971, the Indianapolis 500 was marred by a crash involving a Dodge Challenger serving as the race’s pace car. Eldon Palmer, a local Indianapolis-area Dodge dealer, lost control of the Challenger at the race’s start. It crashed into a photographer’s stand, injuring 29 people. Yikes!

Since the Ram Truck brand was established in 2009, it has consistently led the pack. With its blend of superb performance, robust durability, ultimate comfort, and technological innovation, the Ram Heavy Duty enters its fifteenth year, continually outpacing its rivals. As information about the 2024 Ram Heavy Duty models starts to incrementally emerge, our excitement level for what’s next for Ram continues to expand.

Firing On All Cylinders

The introduction of the new Heavy Duty Rebel in 2023 marked the arrival of a standard Power Wagon that boasted remarkable capacity for towing and payload-hauling. The Rebel was able to maximize the potential of its Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, which returns as a choice for the 2024 Ram Heavy Duty. All engine options include:

  • 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 delivers 410 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 429 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm – and features variable-valve timing (VVT) with Fuel Saver Technology cylinder deactivation
  • 6.7-liter Cummins Standard-Output Turbo Diesel produces 370 horsepower and 850 lb.-ft. of torque (Ram 2500 and 3500)
  • 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel produces 420 horsepower and 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque (Ram 3500)

The Heavy Lifter

Every passing year witnesses a continual growth in the Heavy Duty’s ability to handle progressively larger towing and payload capacities. According to the most recent update from Ram, the projected capability statistics for the 2024 Heavy Duty model are as follows:

  • Towing – Up to a 37,090 pounds with Ram 3500
  • Towing – Up to 20,000 pounds with Ram 2500
  • Payload – Up to 7,680 pounds with Ram 3500
  • Power – 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque with 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 engine

Despite its impressive towing and hauling abilities, it’s remarkable how the Ram Heavy Duty – particularly the off-road-centric Rebel – consistently delivers outstanding off-road performance. A 12-inch infotainment touchscreen in the center of the dashboard serves as the perfect off-road assistant and navigation guide.

The Ram 2500 also offers two distinct rear suspensions, a five-link coil system and air suspension system, while the 3500 offers an exclusive supplemental air suspension system.

Variety, the Spice of Life

From the luxurious Laramie to the powerful Big Horn, the Ram Heavy Duty line has successfully responded to the diverse needs of its drivers. The 2024 Ram Heavy Duty will come available in seven unique trims, including the aforementioned Rebel. Those seven trims are:

  • Big Horn/Lone Star
  • Laramie
  • Limited
  • Limited Longhorn
  • Power Wagon
  • Rebel

The age of electric vehicles has entered a new era. Where once EVs and hybrids were dismissed as appealing but impractical options, today’s models are able to compete with or surpass gas vehicles in terms of range, performance, and durability. There’s never been a better time to stop by Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and make the switch – and in this primer, we’ll tell you why.

Reasons To Make the Switch

Range: When today’s version of the electric vehicle was introduced around the turn of the century, the biggest concern for many drivers was range. EVs did, in fact, have a relatively limited range at their inception, making them an unappealing option for long trips. However, today’s EVs are built to be more reliable and have a longer range. Some long-range models have a range of over 300 miles, making them more than comparable to gas-powered cars in terms of mileage.

Price: While EVs are becoming more affordable, some potential drivers remain unconvinced about the cost savings over time. However, reports show that EV drivers save an average of $1,000 per year on gas money when they switch to an electric car. Not only that, but EVs require far less maintenance than gas vehicles, as they don’t require oil changes, and their engines see far less wear and tear. EVs may cost you a bit more out of pocket upfront, but when all’s said and done, you’ll feel the total savings impact.

Practical concerns: Apart from range and price, some drivers are unsure about the practicality of driving an electric vehicle. Their concerns mostly stem from uncertainty about charging options and practicality. However, charging EVs is increasingly flexible, as it can be done from home, at work, or on the road. Additionally, the smaller size of electric motors allows for more storage space for you and your family. Unlike even a decade ago, EVs are now well-equipped to handle every aspect of a long, family roadtrip.

Environmental Impact: EVs and environmental health have long been synonymous concepts, but we still can’t overstate the impact driving an electric vehicle makes. With no direct emissions, EVs are so durable in part because they’re built with the future in mind. Making the switch to an electric vehicle is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier planet.

Nearby Charging Stations

Slowly but surely, the amount of charging stations near the Seneca area is beginning to expand. Here’s a few convenient public charging stations nearby:

  • ChargePoint Charging Station on 100 Seneca St., Oil City, PA 16301
  • Electric Charging Station on 305 State Park Rd., Oil City, PA 16301

Even if you don’t yet own an EV, you’ve probably noticed the number of charging stations starting to gain traction – and they’re only going to become more common as we stretch further into the 21st century.

Go Green Today

There’s never been a better time to join the electric future. EV range is better than ever, making long drives more comfortable. The cost savings over time are significant, as is the environmental difference you’ll contribute towards. Three best friends enjoying traveling at vacation in the car.

As drivers, we all have our beliefs and habits on the road that we take for granted. Many of these come from the driving lessons we learned from parents, friends, or driving school instructors. However, not all of these beliefs are necessarily true, or the best practice on the road.

In this blog, we will debunk five of the most common driving myths in America and provide you with the facts. By the end of this post, we hope you will have a better understanding of safe driving practices and improve your overall driving experience.

Myth #1: It’s safer to drive with your hands at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions.

Many of us learned the traditional way of holding the steering wheel at 10 and 2 o’clock. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommends holding the wheel at 9 and 3 o’clock for better control, especially in case of sudden turns or steering movements.

The 9 and 3 o’clock positions allow for a better grip of the wheel, making it easier to turn it in any direction if necessary. Additionally, this position provides the driver with increased space between their arms and chest in case of an accident, which can help reduce serious injuries.

Myth #2: It’s safer to drive slower than the speed limit.

While it’s important to obey speed limits, driving too slowly can also be dangerous. It can lead to impatient drivers behind you, causing them to make reckless maneuvers and potentially cause accidents. In some cases, driving too slowly can be a violation of the law, so make sure to maintain a speed that is reasonable and safe.

Myth #3: Four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive makes you invincible on the road.

While 4WD or AWD can provide better traction in certain driving conditions (such as on snow or ice), it can also provide a false sense of security to the driver. It does not make you invincible on the road and does not improve braking or steering ability. Always drive according to the road conditions and adjust your speed when necessary.

Myth #4: Red cars are more likely to get pulled over by police.

This is one of the most widespread urban legends in the driving community, but there is no evidence to back it up. The color of your car does not impact your chances of getting pulled over. Police officers look for safety violations, such as speeding, running red lights, or failing to use turn signals, regardless of the color of your car.

Myth #5: Using your phone with your hands-free device is safe while driving.

While using a hands-free device to make calls or send texts is legal in many states, it is not always safe. Even if your hands are on the wheel, your attention is still divided between driving and the conversation.

Research shows that any form of phone use while driving can be distracting and increase the risk of accidents. Whenever possible, avoid using your phone while driving or pull over to a safe place if you need to make a call.

Driving Debunked

Driving myths can create confusion and impact safe driving habits. By debunking these five common driving myths, we hope to help drivers understand the importance of adopting safe driving practices, following traffic laws, and staying focused while on the road.

Remember to always drive defensively, be aware of your surroundings, and be mindful of potential hazards. Safe driving is everyone’s responsibility.

Driving is an exciting milestone in life, but it can also be intimidating, especially for new drivers. Navigating the roads as a beginner involves a lot of responsibility, but with proper guidance, it can be a lot easier and more secure. In this blog, we will focus on five tips that can help new drivers stay safe and confident on the road.

Tip 1: Master the Basics

Before hitting the road, it is essential to understand the fundamental rules of driving. Start by reviewing your state’s driver’s manual or take an approved driver’s education course. This will help you learn the rules of the road and gain a better understanding of road signs, speed limits, and traffic laws. Knowing the basics ensures that you can navigate the roads with confidence and safety.

To further master the basics and gain a strong foundation in driving, it is important to practice frequently in various conditions. Make sure to drive in different weather conditions, such as rain or snow, and during different times of day. Additionally, practice on roads with varying speed limits and traffic levels. This will help you become comfortable behind the wheel and

Tip 2: Keep Your Car Maintained

Regular car maintenance is crucial for a vehicle’s safe operation. Keeping up with oil changes, brakes, and tire rotations are necessary for ensuring that the car is in proper working order. Having a reliable vehicle also means reducing the chance of costly and dangerous breakdowns.

Having a reliable car is also essential for avoiding any unwanted incidents on the road. Be sure to check your fluids (oil, coolant, brake, and transmission) regularly and top them off if needed. Make sure to have your brakes inspected occasionally, as well as inspect the car’s tires for proper inflation levels and tread wear. If your

Tip 3: Avoid Distractions

Distractions while driving are dangerous, irresponsible, and can lead to accidents. Keep your phone on silent and out of reach while driving. If you need to use your phone, pull over to a safe spot to take the call or reply to a text message. Additionally, avoid eating, smoking, grooming, or engaging in other distracting activities while behind the wheel.

In order to reduce distractions while driving, it is important to minimize the number of passengers in the car. Having fewer passengers in the vehicle reduces the chances of conversations or other interactions that could take your focus away from driving. Additionally, avoid programming GPS devices or changing radio stations while driving, as these activities require visual and mental attention. Lastly, be

Tip 4: Don’t Tailgate

Maintaining a safe distance between your car and the vehicle in front is crucial for a driver’s safety. The recommended following distance is three to four seconds between cars. This ample time will allow you to avoid a collision if the vehicle in front makes any sudden stops or turns.

Tailgating can be dangerous and should always be avoided. Not only can it lead to rear-end collisions, but it can also cause road rage from the driver in front. Additionally, tailgating restricts vision and forces drivers to make quick decisions in order to avoid a collision. To ensure safety, keep your following distance at three

Tip 5: Obey All Traffic Rules

Driving safely and responsibly involves obeying all traffic rules and laws, including stop signs, traffic signals, and posted speed limits. Remember, breaking the rules puts not only your safety but also the safety of other road users at risk.

When driving, always be aware of the speed limit and the posted signs to ensure that you stay within the laws. Following the speed limit helps prevent speeding tickets and keeps you from putting yourself and other drivers at risk. Additionally, be mindful of intersections and obey any traffic signals, such as stop lights or yield signs. These traffic signals are there to keep you and other drivers safe on the road.

Get Out and Drive — Safely!

In conclusion, as a new driver, it is crucial to remain vigilant, patient, and adhere to basic traffic rules. Regular maintenance of your car, avoiding distractions, and maintaining a safe following distance are all essential practices to help ensure safe driving. Remember to never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, always wear your seatbelt, and enjoy the ride. Following these five tips will make you a more confident and responsible driver.

With spring right around the corner now is the best time to start prepping your car for warmer weather. Whether you’re washing off a winter worth of salt and dirt or you’re finally bringing the summer car out of your garage, some spring cleaning is a great way to increase the life of your vehicle.

If you’re a DIY’er looking to get their ride ready for spring, this is one list of tips and tricks you won’t want to miss.

Wash it Down

Spring is the perfect time to give your car the much-needed love it deserves. To start, grab some soap, water and a lint-free chamois cloth. Once you have your supplies, start scrubbing away any winter grime, dust or debris. Don’t forget to get into all of those nooks, crannies and hard-to-reach areas.

Now that you’re done with the soap and water stage, give the car a quick once-over before wiping it down with your chamois cloth. Using a lint-free chamois cloth instead of air drying helps avoid any unwanted water spots on your vehicle.

If you don’t have much time or are looking for an easier method, an automatic car wash is a good option to consider. With just a few minutes of your time an automatic car wash will have your car ready for Spring in no time.

Check Your Tires

As spring approaches, it’s time to start checking the air pressure and tread depth of your tires. Having tires with solid tread depth and the proper air pressure not only keeps you safe, but it also ensures peak performance and fuel economy.

Tire air pressure can drop with temperature changes or from sitting for a long time. So, the first step is to ensure those air levels are set to your vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. You typically can find this information on the inside of your driver’s side door jam.

Next, you’ll want to check your tread depth. While there are a few methods of checking this at home, we always recommend having one of our certified technicians do this for you. This ensures that the tread depth reading is accurate so don’t have to buy tires before they’re ready to be replaced.

Inspect the Battery

Spring is an important time to inspect the battery of your car to ensure it is fully operational. A battery that has sat for a long time or been exposed to cold weather for long periods of time may not be as strong as it once was. That’s why we recommend testing your battery or having it tested as you begin to prepare your vehicle for spring.

It’s also wise to have a technician check your alternator and charging system annually. This will ensure that your battery is being properly charged which maximizes its lifespan. If your charging system or alternator aren’t functioning properly, it’s better to find that out ahead of time before you end up stranded.

Making sure your battery is ready for spring will go a long way in helping you stay safe and worry-free on the roads this season. You can have your alternator, battery and charging system checked by one of our certified technicians here at Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM. All you have to do is schedule an appointment online or call us today!

Change the Oil

One of the oldest pieces of car maintenance advice to ever exist, changing your oil is essential no matter what season it is. However, after a long winter or a prolonged period of garage storage, it is even more important to check and/or change the oil in your vehicle. This can help catch issues such as degraded oil or finding metal shavings in the oil pan.

If you don’t have the time or space to check your oil, don’t worry, our service center is full of certified technicians who can help. At Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, we can check and replace your oil and filter, as well as perform a variety of other maintenance and repair services. All you have to do is call for an appointment or schedule your service online today!

Protect Your Paint

Preparing your car for the spring season is an important part of vehicle maintenance, and paint protection should be a top priority. Investing in paint protection film or a ceramic coating can help protect against scratches, dirt and other things that can cause paint damage over time.

Paint protection film acts as a physical barrier to any debris coming in contact with your paint, while ceramic coatings act as an extra layer on top of your paint that wears better against damage. Both are excellent options for protecting your car’s paint from the elements and road debris.

New Jeep Models

There’s a reason Jeep is known as the original off-road vehicle. It’s been conquering terrain since 1941, and shows no signs of slowing down. Whether you’re looking to take on some serious mud or just want a versatile ride for your daily commute, Jeep has what you need. Here’s a closer look at this American icon.

Starting in 1941

When it comes to off-road vehicles, there’s one name that comes to mind – Jeep. Since 1941, Jeep has been engineering automotive greatness for both military and civilian drivers alike. During World War 2 it provided reliable, versatile transport for the world’s armed forces, and since then its enduring reputation for world-class 4WD vehicles has been more than deserved. From rugged military vehicles to stylish SUVs, the Jeep range has never failed to impress. In short, they are the definitive statement in on-and-off-road refinement.

Built for War

The Willys MB was an iconic piece of machinery that played an integral role in one of humanity’s darkest periods – World War II. This enamel green Army Jeep had an immense amount of strength and durability, taking its occupants through terrain that no other vehicle could handle. Its simple design meant it was easy to manufacture, allowing the US military to quickly produce the numbers they needed. Now beloved by collectors around the world, the Willys MB’s original purpose is a testament to the lengths people were willing to go for freedom.

The Original Civilian Jeep

Oh, the classic CJ! To some, there is no vehicle more iconic. First released back in 1944, it was the first of Jeep’s attempts at a civilian-ready model. Although YJ eventually took its place as the successor to CJ in 1987, its off-road capabilities still live on and have helped cement its position as one of the most recognizable names in the 4×4 world. Sturdy, reliable and oh-so rugged – from weekend adventurers to well-seasoned off-roaders – there’s never been a Jeep like the CJ.

The Iconic Jeep Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler YJ model, or simply Wrangler, is the original successor to the classic Willys CJ. It is the quintessential Jeep model beloved by generations of off-roading aficionados. Boasting a supple suspension and robust powertrain, it was an immediate hit when first introduced in 1986. YJ Wranglers came with an impressive array of options from a manual transmission four-cylinder to various sizes of automatic V8s. There have been plenty of tweaks over the years, but nothing beats the thrill of jumping into a YJ for some serious fun on the terrain. This iconic 4×4 will forever be associated with adventures both on and off the beaten path – so grab your keys and get out there!

The King of Off-Road

If you’re looking for the ultimate off-road experience, then look no further than a Jeep. Whether mudding in the country or wheeling through rugged mountain passes, Jeeps are primed and ready to take on any terrain. With impressive capabilities and reliable performance, you’ll never want your next adventure to end. And just imagine it: nothing but you, your Jeep, and the wide open dunes stretching across the horizon. No matter where you decide to go, the possibilities are virtually endless when it’s a Jeep leading the way!

Ready for Adventure?

If you’re looking for an off-road vehicle that can handle any terrain, Jeep is the way to go! With over 75 years of experience in making off-road vehicles, there’s no other brand that knows more about what it takes to make a great 4×4. So if you’re ready for adventure, visit Northpointe Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM today and take one out for a spin! You won’t be disappointed.

Mechanic Showing Color Samples To Customer Against Car

Believe it or not, the colors that you see on cars today are the result of a long and complicated history. In the early days of the automobile, there were only a handful of colors to choose from. But as technology progressed and society evolved, so too did the palette of available car colors. Today, there are literally thousands of colors to choose from. Here’s a brief history of how we got from there to here.

The first cars were available in black, white, and gray. Black was by far the most popular color because it didn’t show dirt and it was easy to keep clean. White was popular among rich people who wanted to show off their status. Gray was considered to be neither here nor there; it wasn’t flashy like white and it wasn’t as practical as black.

By the 1920s, cars were available in a wide range of colors, including green, blue, brown, and even red. But black continued to be the most popular color among car buyers. In fact, nearly 60% of all cars sold in the 1920s were black.

During the Great Depression, car sales plummeted and manufacturers began offering cars in a wider range of colors in an effort to boost sales. The most popular colors during this period were bright and cheerful shades like yellow and orange.

By the time the 1930s rolled around, metallic paint was all the rage. If you wanted to show that you were wealthy and could afford the latest trends, you’d slap some metallic paint on your car. It was a status symbol.

But it wasn’t just the rich who could get their hands on metallic paint. Companies soon began to realize that they could use aluminum flakes to produce the paint, which made it much more affordable. So even people who weren’t wealthy could have a car that shimmered and shone in the sun..

After World War II, car companies began offering more subdued colors like tan and beige. These colors were seen as more sophisticated and reflected the increased affluence of America’s middle class. By the 1950s, pastel colors like pink and mint green had become extremely popular among female car buyers.

In the 1960s, bright colors made a comeback as young people embraced psychedelic culture. This trend continued into the 1970s with the rise of disco culture. Common car colors during this period included gold, silver, and purple.

Today, there are literally thousands of car paint colors to choose from. You can find cars in every color under the sun, from traditional shades like black and white to more daring hues like candy apple red and neon green. And thanks to modern paint technologies, you can even get your car custom-painted to match your favorite sports team or alma mater’s colors. No matter what your taste may be, there’s sure to be a car paint color that’s just right for you.

From the earliest days of the automobile up until today, car paint colors have come a long way. What started out as a limited palette has now exploded into a veritable rainbow of hues. So whether you’re looking for something traditional or something that will make your car really stand out from the crowd, there’s sure to be a color that’s just right for you. Thanks for reading!

Wrangler Willys 4xe Advanced Powertrain

The Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe provides a unique on- and off-road experience. The most advanced powertrain ever developed for a Jeep Wrangler maximizes efficiency with 49 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) while eliminating range anxiety, delivering pure-electric operation for most daily commutes and hours on the trail.

Torque from the electric motors in the Wrangler Willys 4xe’s hybrid powertrain arrives instantly on demand from the driver. The powertrain also delivers fuel-saving, seamless start-stop operation of the engine.

The Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe powertrain integrates two electric motors and a 400-volt battery pack with a fuel-efficient, turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. This configuration maximizes the efficiency of the hybrid propulsion components and mates them with the Wrangler’s world-renowned and proven driveline.

Key output of the Wrangler Willys 4xe powertrain includes 375 horsepower (280 kW), 470 lb.-ft. (637 Nm) of torque and 49 MPGe from the following components:

  • 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4
  • Engine-mounted motor generator unit
  • Transmission-mounted motor generator unit integrated into eight-speed automatic transmission
  • 400-volt, 17-kWh, 96-cell lithium-ion, nickel manganese cobalt battery pack

The 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 is a high-tech, direct-injection engine that uses a twin-scroll, low-inertia turbocharger for exceptional responsiveness, performance and fuel efficiency.

The high-voltage, liquid-cooled eTorque motor generator unit mounts at the front of the engine, replacing the conventional alternator. The motor generator spins the engine for nearly seamless, fuel-saving, start-stop operation and generates electricity for the battery pack. The second high-voltage motor generator is much more powerful. Mounted at the front of the transmission case, this large e-motor is key for pure electric operation of the Wrangler Willys 4xe.

The Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe’s 400-volt, 17-kWh, 96-cell lithium-ion battery pack uses nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) graphite chemistry. The pack and controls mount underneath the second-row seat, where it is protected from outside elements.

Wrangler Willys 4xe E Selec Modes

The Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe driver can tailor the hybrid powertrain to best suit each trip, whether it is filling the needs of most daily commutes in pure-electric operation, a night on the town or quietly exploring nature off-road.

  • Hybrid: The default mode blends torque from the 2.0-liter engine and electric motor. In this mode the powertrain will use battery power first, then add in propulsion from the 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 when the battery reaches minimum state of charge
  • Electric: The powertrain operates on zero-emission electric power only until the battery reaches the minimum charge or the driver requests more torque (such as wide-open throttle), which engages the 2.0-liter engine
  • eSave: Prioritizes propulsion from the 2.0-liter engine, saving the battery charge for later use such as EV off-roading or urban areas where internal combustion propulsion is restricted. The driver can also choose between Battery Save and Battery Charge during eSave via the Hybrid Electric Pages in the Uconnect monitor

Off-road Legend

Jeep Wrangler’s heritage is defined by its legendary off-road capability. All of the Wrangler Willys 4xe power modes are available when the drivetrain is shifted to 4Lo. The seamless integration of electric power into the 4×4 drivetrain elevates the Wrangler Willys 4xe to new levels of off-road performance. Enthusiasts will find that the instant availability of torque from the Wrangler Willys 4xe’s electric motor delivers a more precise and controlled driving experience for climbing and crawling – there’s no need to build up engine rpm to get the tires to move, minimizing driveline shock loading and maximizing control and speed.

In EV mode, the Wrangler Willys 4xe treads lightly and silently, conserving fuel, allowing occupants to focus solely on the sights and full sounds of nature. The new Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe is equipped with a full-time 4WD system, front and rear heavy-duty Dana 44 axles and a Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. The intuitive system allows the driver to set it and forget it in any environment. A standard Trac-Lok rear limited-slip rear differential provides extra grip and capability in low-traction situations, such as driving over sand, gravel, snow or ice.

The Wrangler Willys 4xe includes Selec-Speed Control with Hill-ascent and Hill-descent Control. This allows the driver to control vehicle speed up and down steep, rugged grades with the transmission shift lever. Like every Jeep Wrangler, the Wrangler Willys 4xe wears a Trail Rated badge that signifies legendary 4×4 capability with equipment that includes:

  • Skid plates and front and rear blue tow hooks
  • Aggressive 17-inch off-road black-painted wheels and LT255/75R17C mud-terrain tires
  • Up to 30 inches (76 cm) of water fording

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe maintains Wrangler’s renowned ease of customization with a host of Jeep Performance Parts from Mopar available when the vehicle arrives in showrooms.
